September has been a big month for live music at the Thrasher-Horne Center in Orange Park, Florida. In one unforgettable weekend, Northeast Florida audiences traveled through decades of music—from the timeless songs of The Carpenters to the powerhouse rock vocals of Ann Wilson, legendary voice of Heart. On September 12, Top of the World: A Carpenters Tribute featuring Debbie Taylor brought the music of Karen and Richard Carpenter back to the stage. Just one night later, on September 13, Ann Wilson delivered a night of classic rock featuring music from her legendary career with Heart, her solo work and more.
Judging by what our guests told us after the shows, it was a weekend to remember.
Top of the World: A Carpenters Tribute Brings Back the Memories
On Saturday, September 12, Top of the World: A Carpenters Tribute featuring Debbie Taylor took the stage at Thrasher-Horne Center.
The eight-piece touring group is known for recreating the arrangements and distinctive sound of The Carpenters without relying on backing tracks. Led by Debbie Taylor, the show features a seven-piece band of multi-instrumentalists recreating the music with keyboards, saxophone, trumpet, flute and other instrumentation. The group’s repertoire includes beloved Carpenters songs such as “Close to You,” “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Rainy Days and Mondays,” “Please Mr. Postman” and “Yesterday Once More.”
But the evening was about more than hearing familiar songs.
For many of our guests, it was about the memories attached to them.
One patron told us the performance “warmed my heart, brought back many memories and at times tears.” Another particularly enjoyed hearing Debbie Taylor share the stories behind The Carpenters and their songs.
That nostalgia was a recurring theme throughout our post-show survey.
“The Top of the World show was FABULOUS!!” wrote one guest.
Another called the group “phenomenal,” adding that this was their second time seeing the tribute and “they did not disappoint.”
And one patron traveled all the way from Tampa specifically to see Debbie Taylor and the band.
What Audiences Said About Top of the World
The numbers were just as impressive as the comments.
Among the 56 patrons who completed our post-show survey, the average overall experience rating was 4.93 out of 5. Our staff received an average professionalism rating of 4.98 out of 5, while the average likelihood that respondents would recommend Thrasher-Horne Center was also 4.98 out of 5.
Guests praised not only the performance, but also the venue, sound, parking, staff and overall experience.
One first-time visitor told us they were so impressed with the auditorium and the view that they had already purchased tickets for future performances. Another called Thrasher-Horne a “beautiful venue” with “good seats, great sound & lighting” and praised the supporting staff.
Several guests simply asked us to bring Top of the World back.

Ann Wilson Brings the Voice of Heart to Orange Park
There wasn’t much time to rest.
The following evening, Sunday, September 13, Thrasher-Horne welcomed Ann Wilson, the legendary voice of Heart, to Orange Park.
Wilson’s career extends well beyond Heart. Her solo work has included albums such as Hope & Glory, Fierce Bliss and Another Door, incorporating influences ranging from rock and folk to orchestral music.
For the Northeast Florida audience at Thrasher-Horne, however, the evening offered an opportunity to hear one of rock’s most recognizable voices perform songs spanning her career.
The September 13 set included Heart classics such as “Magic Man,” “Crazy on You,” “Even It Up,” “Little Queen” and “Barracuda.” Wilson also performed “Alone / What About Love” along with interpretations of songs associated with Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and The Black Crowes.
The reaction from our audience was enthusiastic.
“Ann Wilson is amazing!!” wrote one guest.
Another described Wilson and her band as “phenomenal,” while another called the evening an opportunity to witness “rock ‘n’ roll royalty.”
For one audience member, it was their first-ever solo concert—and they told us they had a great time. Another first-time visitor said they were impressed with the entire experience and planned to return for more events.
What Audiences Said About Ann Wilson at Thrasher-Horne
Following the Ann Wilson concert, 36 guests responded to our audience survey.
The show received an average 4.86 out of 5 overall experience rating, while the professionalism of the Thrasher-Horne staff averaged 4.94 out of 5. Guests also gave an average rating of 4.86 out of 5 when asked how likely they were to recommend the Center.
The comments repeatedly highlighted Wilson’s vocals, her band, the venue and the staff.
“It was an amazing performance only enhanced by the friendliness and professionalism of your entire staff,” one patron told us.
Another called Thrasher-Horne “the best northeast Florida venue,” while another wrote that the Center is their favorite date-night destination and that the community is fortunate to have a venue of its quality.
And perhaps the message we heard most clearly from our rock fans?
“Keep the rock coming!”

One of our favorite comments from the September surveys came from a guest who said they sometimes forget about events at Thrasher-Horne, but every time they return, they’re reminded of how much they enjoy the venue.
