Last season at the Thrasher-Horne we debuted our inaugural Broadway Series, bringing a collection of five professional musical tours to Orange Park including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Ragtime, Annie, Saturday Night Fever, and Once. This was the first time in Northeast Florida history that residents had been offered an alternative venue outside of downtown to experience a season of blockbuster musicals fresh from the Great White Way.
As part of this big announcement, we also created Broadway Series Subscription Packages to provide easy access and a great discount to you. This program ensured your favorite seats to each one of our hit musicals without the worry and price of individual ticket purchases. As an added incentive, we put together a contest with an all-expense paid trip to New York City as the grand prize. An entry into the contest was included with the purchase of a Broadway Subscription, and the winner was announced from our mainstage prior to our October 2nd performance by Bill Engvall. Subscriptions began rolling in as the date of the winning announcement loomed closer and closer. October finally arrived, and from our stack of entries, a winner emerged: Pam & Chuck Calloway!
These longtime friends of Thrasher-Horne Center were the perfect recipients of the grand prize. They have attended over 50 shows at the theatre in the past decade, and are always first in line for Broadway, dance, comedy, and musical revues. In front of a sold out audience of Bill Engvall fans, we surprised them with a long weekend in the Big Apple, complete with airfare on Delta Airlines, hotel accommodations at the Westin New York at Times Square, and tickets to An American In Paris at the Palace Theatre, Beautiful – The Carol King Musical at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, and Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre.
Check out some snaps of our winner’s trip below, and stay tuned to our blog for our 2016-2017 Broadway Season announcement, COMING SOON!

“An American in Paris, that show exceeded our expectations. The couple who danced were phenomenal. He could be the next Gene Kelly.” – Pam Calloway
“This trip was fantastic. Everything was so convenient and all the shows were wonderful. Send next year’s winner to us and we’ll tell them how great what they’ve won is!” – Chuck Calloway
