“People are wondering, can he speak? Does he have 100% mental capacity? But the truth is, I never did! I might actually be a few points higher now!”
This quote, from the opening monologue of the October 17, 2015 episode of Saturday Night Live, signaled Tracy Morgan’s return to comedy and the television show that introduced him to stardom. His appearance came almost a year and a half after a devastating automobile accident that claimed the life of one of his friends and mentors, and almost took Tracy’s life as well. Throughout the episode, he reunited with his SNL and 30 Rock family (including guest appearances by Larry David, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, and Jack McBrayer) and addressed his life changing accident head-on, with sometimes startling candor.
Fast forward nine months, and we are happy to announce that Tracy Morgan has made a complete recovery. He was nominated for an Emmy for his return to SNL, has a movie project (playing Redd Foxx in a Richard Pryor biopic) and a television series in the works, and has mounted a comeback tour called “Picking Up The Pieces” that will be making a stop at the Thrasher-Horne on November 12th!
